A new open gym by GCDA, aka Greater Cochin Development Authority, was initiated at Kaloor in Kochi. The gym was inaugurated on November 1, which is celebrated as Kerala Piravi Day. The gym is established on the premises of Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium in Kaloor. It is free and intends to support people to fight against lifestyle diseases at a time in which many people suffer from different kinds of health issues.

The gym was opened at 8 am, and the inauguration was done by V Salim, the chairman of the (GDCA) Greater Cochin Development Authority. He said, “There are many people who arrive at Kochi stadium frequently for fitness training, and we were also provided a request on setting up an open gym a while ago. It is after recognizing all that the health department is determined to take up such a project. Every day, thousands of people arrive here for their morning and evening walks. We believe we can perform related projects in other places too and permit everyone to assure their fitness.”

The construction of the gym was completed by the last week of October. This will be the second open gym in Kochi after the one set up with the fund designated by Hibi Eden, MP, at Queen’s Way in Chathiyath Road, near High Court.
