Ravindra Jadeja, Ishant Sharma, Axar Patel and Shubhman Gill are likely to miss the upcoming tour to South Africa. Team management of Indian Cricket is speculating the squad and above mentioned cause is the reason behind the delay in announcement of the playing eleven.
Things have gone little tough for the team management to select a viable option for the playing eleven as our two left arm spinners, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel are giving a miss. Indian bowling brigade is highly dependent on the Left arm spinners and in absence of these two cornerstones, R Ashwin is going to lead the spin brigade.
Jadeja missed the second Test against New Zealand in Mumbai where Patel had a decent showing with bat and ball. A source in the cricket board informed that Jadeja’s ligament tear will take months to heal and if he undergoes surgery, he will only get fit before the Indian Premier League next year.
In its press release before the Mumbai Test, the BCCI had given swelling in the forearm as the reason for Jadeja missing the game. “All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja suffered a right forearm injury during the 1st Test match in Kanpur. After undergoing scans, he was diagnosed with a swelling on his forearm. He has been advised rest and is thus ruled out of the 2nd Test in Mumbai,” the release stated.
From the initial test and collation of Axar Patel’s checkup has showed a splint of stress on his ligament and the type he is facing is takes around six weeks to heal and be fit to go for the game. Some other scans are awaited by the board after which the decision for Axar to be on board will be taken on.
All these speculations are still going on and playing eleven for the Matches against South Africa are still awaited.
