In the ongoing BWF World Championships, Indian shuttler HS Prannoy and Lakshya Sen have both advanced to the second round, while Kidambi Srikanth faced an early exit. Srikanth, a former World No. 1, suffered a first-round defeat to Kenta Nishimoto, a 14-ranked Japanese player, in Copenhagen on August 21. The match concluded with a straight-game score of 21-14, 21-14 in favor of Nishimoto, who advanced to the second round. Srikanth struggled throughout the match, failing to establish momentum and was convincingly outplayed.

Lakshya Sen, however, managed a strong start, defeating Georges Julien Paul from Mauritius in the first round. The Indian player secured a victory with a score of 21-12, 21-7 in just 25 minutes. This win set up a Round 2 clash for Sen against Hyeok Jin Jeon of Korea.

HS Prannoy also secured a victory in his first-round match against Finland’s Kalle Kojonen. The match lasted for 43 minutes, ending with a score of 24-22, 21-10 in favor of Prannoy. With this win, the World No. 9 advanced to the next round and is scheduled to face Chico Aura of Indonesia on August 22.

However, not all Indian players fared well in the tournament. The mixed doubles pair of Rohan Kapoor and Sikki Reddy faced a defeat against the Scottish duo of Adam Hall and Julie Macpherson. The match was closely contested, with the Scotland pair ultimately winning 21-14, 20-22, 21-18.

The ongoing BWF World Championships have showcased a mix of successes and setbacks for Indian shuttlers, with some progressing to the next rounds while others faced early exits and challenging matches.
