In the early stages of the game, NEUFC took an aggressive approach, launching attacks from the flanks. In the second half, NEUFC increased the pressure on Shillong’s defense. Nestor Albiach Roger scored the equalizer in the 59th minute with a close-range header. The turning point occurred in the 67th minute when Nickson was fouled in the penalty box, resulting in a penalty for NorthEast. Nestor calmly converted the penalty, securing the lead and three points for NorthEast United FC.

The victory keeps NorthEast United FC in contention for a spot in the semifinals, and they have one more match against Kerala Blasters FC remaining in the group stage.
