Ahead of the Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) final IPL 2024 league game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Robin Uthappa shared his thoughts on the intensifying retirement gossips surrounding MS Dhoni. With speculation mounting that this could be Dhoni’s final match for CSK, all eyes are on the upcoming clash at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. This game gains added significance as CSK have already played their last home game of the season, and a playoff spot is on the line.

Currently, RCB stand sixth in the IPL 2024 points table with 12 points from 13 matches, having won six and lost seven. They are in a precarious position, needing not only a victory against CSK but also favourable outcomes from other matches to secure a playoff berth. On the other hand, CSK are slightly better placed, sitting fourth with 14 points from an equal number of matches. A win for CSK would guarantee their spot in the playoffs, making this a high-stakes encounter.

Former India and CSK cricketer Robin Uthappa felt that Dhoni would not be announcing his retirement. “Coming to CSK, is this MS’s last run? I don’t think so, personally, I don’t think so. But do they want to spoil RCB’s party? Definitely. Ruturaj, I think, would want to get to the knockoout stage in his first season as captain. That will be a huge confidence booster for him and for CSK. It’s one for the long run. Let’s see where that goes,” he stated.

MS Dhoni has had a notable impact this season despite playing fewer innings. He has scored 161 runs in 10 innings with a remarkable strike rate of 226.66, highlighting his ability to deliver crucial quickfire knocks. At the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Dhoni has a stellar record against RCB, amassing 376 runs in nine matches at an impressive average of 125.33 and a strike rate of 184.31. His performance includes four half-centuries, making him a formidable opponent in this venue.

The match is anticipated to feature a thrilling face-off between two of India’s cricketing giants, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni. Kohli has been exceptional for RCB this season, leading the team’s batting charts with 661 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of 155.16. His achievements this season include a century and five fifties, putting him in contention for the Orange Cap as the league’s top run-scorer.

CSK vs RCB clash is set to be a decisive battle, with both teams eyeing a playoff spot. Dhoni’s potential final appearance adds an emotional layer to the game, while Kohli’s stellar form promises an exciting contest. Fans are eagerly awaiting this showdown, which not only holds significant implications for the tournament but also celebrates the legacy of one of cricket’s most beloved figures, MS Dhoni.
