Afghanistan’s cricket team is gearing up for an action-packed schedule, commencing with a T20I series against India scheduled from January 11 to 17. The matches will be hosted at the PCA Stadium in Mohali, Holkar Stadium in Indore, and M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. This series against India serves as a crucial preparation phase for Afghanistan, providing them with valuable experience and challenges ahead of the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the United States of America.

Following their series against India, Afghanistan is set to engage in a comprehensive series against Sri Lanka. The cricketing giants will kick off with a one-off Test on February 2 at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. Subsequently, a 3-match ODI series is scheduled from February 9, followed by T20Is starting on February 17 in Dambulla. This series against Sri Lanka will be an essential opportunity for Afghanistan to showcase their skills across different formats and adapt to varied playing conditions.

After their Sri Lanka tour, Afghanistan will travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to face Ireland in another multi-format series. The one-off Test against Ireland is slated to take place at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The ODIs between Afghanistan and Ireland will unfold on March 7, 9, and 12, leading up to the T20I series starting on March 15. With an abundance of T20Is in the next two months, Afghanistan aims to leave no stone unturned in their preparation, emphasizing their commitment to performing at their best in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

“The year 2024 is a very busy and full of high-voltage competitions for the Afghanistan national team”, Naseeb Khan, the Afghanistan Cricket Board CEO, was quoted as saying.

“The upcoming tours of India, Sri Lanka, and then the home series against Ireland will help us to prepare the team for the much-important T20 World Cup. (We’re) eagerly looking forward to the multiple series,” he expressed.

Afghanistan’s cricketers are embarking on a challenging and diverse series of matches against India, Sri Lanka, and Ireland.
