Indian Squad for WI Series is announced by seniors selection committee and BCCI. There has been lot of buzz about making right balance when Rahul Dravid, present head coach has made a statement about imbalance in team makeup and player roles on field. Perhaps BCCI has tried to make the balance by roping in nailing wrist spinners.

As expected in Indian Squad for WI Series, skipper Rohit Sharma has returned after recovering from his hamstring injury which led to him missing the South Africa tour. However, he reportedly cleared the fitness test before the selection meeting and is now set to lead India in both series. Also, Rohit and Virat Kohli will play together for the first time since the captaincy saga.

Meanwhile, the pace attack has got a kind of new look with Bhuvneshwar Kumar facing the axe from ODI series, post the ordinary series against South Africa. He didn’t pick up a single wicket in 18 overs bowled in the first two ODIs and conceded 64 (10 overs) and 67 (8 overs). Jasprit Bumrah, however, has been rested to manage his workload and the same is the case with off-spinner Ravi Ashwin and Mohammed Shami.

Kuldeep Yadav became a force to reckon with for India post-2017 Champions Trophy but he found himself on the sidelines in the last few tours. However, he has found a place yet again with India and is expected to be India’s solution for spinners’ struggles. Washington Sundar has also made a comeback after missing the South Africa tour due to a positive COVID test.Ravi Bishnoi has also got his maiden call-up in the T20I series and ODI series.
