Bengaluru FC has signed Spanish defensive midfielder Pedro Capó on a one-year deal. Capó, who can also play as a centre-back, will fill the void left by Keziah Veendorp’s departure from the club.
Born in Mahón, Spain, Capó began his football journey with La Salle Mahón at the age of 10. He later moved to Atlético Villacarlos and graduated from Penya Ciutadella. In 2009, he started his senior career with CF Sporting Mahonés in the Segunda División B. Over the years, he played for several third-division clubs, including Celta de Vigo B, RCD Mallorca B, CD Atlético Baleares, Arroyo CP, CD Llosetense, SD Leioa, and CE Sabadell FC, where he achieved promotion to the Segunda División in 2020. Capó then joined Eldense in 2021 and played there for three years, also captaining the team in the Spanish second tier.
Throughout his career, the 33-year-old has made 454 appearances, scored 23 goals, and provided two assists. Capó’s extensive experience and versatility are expected to be valuable assets for Bengaluru FC in the upcoming season.
Expressing his delight at signing with Bengaluru FC, Capó stated, “I’m really glad to have signed with Bengaluru FC, one of the best clubs in India. The opportunity to come to India presented itself to me a few years ago, but I felt the time was not right. My conversations with Gerard (Zaragoza) have given me a lot of enthusiasm, and a desire to perform and I think now is the right time for me to move to India and live an intense experience.”
“Pedro is a player with immense experience in the Spanish Segunda B and one who I am sure will do well for us. He’s a leader on the pitch, and both his previous teams earned promotion to La Liga 2. He’s very good at organizing a team’s defensive shape, and one whose tactical intelligence and physical presence will be crucial to our efforts this season. I’m looking forward to having him join the group,” Zaragoza stated.
Jamshedpur FC has signed young defender Nishchal Chandan ahead of the new season, with an option to extend his contract based on performance. Nishchal Chandan, standing at an impressive 6 feet 3 inches, joins the team to strengthen their central defense alongside Pratik Chaudhari. His height and defensive abilities are expected to add depth and stability to Jamshedpur FC’s backline as they prepare for the upcoming season.
The 25-year-old expressed his joy and commitment, stating, “Joining Jamshedpur FC is a dream come true! I’m ecstatic to be a part of a club with such a rich history and to have the opportunity to play in the ISL. I’m grateful to Head Coach Khalid Jamil and the management for believing in me. I’m committed to giving my best efforts and performing to the highest level. My goal is to have a successful debut season, helping the team to have the best defence in the league to make the fans of Jamshedpur proud.”
Nishchal Chandan’s football journey began in 2015 at Minerva Academy, where he refined his skills and later became a champion in the U-18 I-League North Zone Championship with Minerva FC. He progressed to make his debut in the I-League second division with Punjab FC in the 2020-21 season, followed by a stint with Sudeva FC from 2021-23, where he not only made his I-League debut as captain but also scored a goal. His impressive performance led to a move to Churchill Brothers in the 2023-24 season, where he played all 19 games, before joining Jamshedpur FC.
Head Coach Khalid Jamil shared his enthusiasm about the signing, stating, “Nishchal Chandan has a great opportunity ahead of him, but he must be patient and wait for his chance. He needs to showcase his abilities and consistently deliver strong performances to secure his place in the team.”
