In a recent IPL match, Punjab Kings secured a convincing seven-wicket win against Chennai Super Kings, marking their back-to-back victories. Punjab Kings successfully chased down a target of 163 runs, reaching 163/3 in just 17.5 overs. Jonny Bairstow played a crucial role, scoring 46 runs off 30 balls, while Rilee Rossouw contributed 43 runs off 23 balls to the team’s total.
Earlier in the match, Punjab Kings’ bowlers, including Rahul Chahar and Harpreet Brar, limited Chennai Super Kings to 162/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad was the top scorer for CSK with a half-century, scoring 62 runs. IPL veteran Harshal Patel, despite bowling only one over and conceding 12 runs, made a significant contribution to the victory by taking a good catch to dismiss Sameer Rizvi.
Following the match, Yuzvendra Chahal, the Rajasthan Royals spinner, jokingly remarked on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) about Harshal Patel imitating his signature pose. Yuzvendra Chahal humorously suggested to Elon Musk to issue a copyright strike against Harshal for the pose.
“Dear @elonmusk paaji, Harshal bhai pe copyright lagana hai (Dear Elon Musk sir. Put a copyright strike on Harshal Patel),” joked Yuzvendra Chahal.
Despite his good form in the IPL season, where he has taken 14 wickets in 10 matches, Harshal Patel missed out on selection for Team India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, opted for his Punjab Kings teammate Arshdeep Singh along with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan have been named as reserves for the tournament.
Speaking after the win, PBKS skipper Sam Curran stated, “Very happy. Everytime you come to Chennai and take two wins, always a special feeling. Same as last year, we lost a lot of our home games and won away, finding a similar pattern. We are in a position where we need to win all our games, we come up against the same opposition in a few days.”
