GoPro (NASDAQ: GPRO) has announced its return to the iconic Red Bull Rampage event, taking place on the rugged red cliffs of Virgin, Utah. As the exclusive action camera partner for the 2024 competition, GoPro will be equipping athletes with its latest HERO13 Black, fitted with an Ultra Wide Lens to capture immersive POV footage of the thrilling big-mountain freeride mountain biking event. This year’s Red Bull Rampage is particularly notable for including, for the first time, a women’s competition on October 10th, followed by the men’s event on October 12th.
In the women’s competition, GoPro athletes Vero Sandler and Casey Brown will make history by competing against the world’s best female freeriders. Both Sandler and Brown are well-known for pushing the boundaries of the sport, and their participation marks a significant milestone in Red Bull Rampage’s evolution. The men’s competition will feature longtime Red Bull Rampage athletes Reed Boggs and Brendan Fairclough, also representing GoPro.
Rick Loughery, GoPro’s VP of Global Marketing, emphasized that Red Bull Rampage offers the ultimate platform for showcasing the HERO13’s capabilities, particularly its durability and performance in extreme conditions. The new Ultra Wide Lens on the HERO13 Black enhances the viewing experience with a field of view that is 36% wider and 48% taller than standard GoPro lenses, while also optimizing HyperSmooth video stabilization to capture the action with unprecedented clarity and smoothness.
For fans unable to attend in person, the women’s competition will be broadcast on October 10th at 9pm ET/6pm PT across ESPN+, Red Bull TV, and YouTube. The men’s event will air on October 12th at 12pm ET/9am PT via ESPN+ in the U.S. and Red Bull TV worldwide. Additionally, one-hour highlight shows for both events will be broadcast back-to-back on ESPN2 on October 27th, with the women’s competition airing at 5pm ET/2pm PT, followed by the men’s at 6pm ET/3pm PT.
