India’s cricket team has continued its dominance against the West Indies in One-Day International (ODI) series, securing their 13th consecutive bilateral ODI series win against the Caribbean team. The last time India faced an ODI series defeat against the West Indies was 17 years ago, in 2006, when the Windies won the series 4-1 under the captaincy of Brian Lara.
In the recent match, India achieved a mammoth 200-run victory over the West Indies, showcasing their strength and form. The Indian team managed to post a formidable total of 351/5, thanks to an outstanding opening partnership of 143 runs between Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill. Gill scored the highest with 85 runs off 92 balls, while Kishan played an excellent knock of 77 runs. Stand-in captain Hardik Pandya contributed with a fiery unbeaten knock of 70 runs off 52 balls, and Sanju Samson also made a vital 51 runs off 41 balls. West Indies bowler Romario Shepherd took two wickets, conceding 73 runs in his 10 overs.
In response to India’s massive total, the West Indies batting struggled, losing wickets early on. Mukesh Kumar was instrumental in taking three wickets early in the innings, reducing the West Indies to 17/3 after 7 overs. Shardul Thakur and the Indian bowlers maintained the pressure, eventually dismissing the West Indies for just 152 runs in 35.3 overs, resulting in a resounding 200-run victory for India.
With this victory, India extended their winning streak in bilateral ODI series against the West Indies, while also holding a record of 10 consecutive ODI series wins against Sri Lanka.
Following this ODI series, India and the West Indies are set to compete in a five-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series, scheduled to begin on Thursday.
This remarkable achievement showcases India’s dominance over the Caribbean team in recent years. The ODI series victory not only adds to India’s winning streak against the West Indies but also solidifies their position as one of the top-performing teams in the limited-overs format of the game.
