The player auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is expected to take place on December 19, with Dubai being considered as the potential venue. The 10 IPL franchises have been instructed to submit their lists of retained and released players by November 15. The auction pool will be released in the first week of December.

Although the franchises have not received official confirmation from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding the mini auction’s date, they have informally been alerted to a potential window between December 15 and 20. Last year, the BCCI initially planned to hold the auction in Istanbul but ultimately conducted it in Kochi. Sources within the BCCI have indicated that they are exploring venue options, and Dubai is among the possibilities.

Each IPL team will have a purse of Rs 100 crore for player acquisitions, which is an increase from the previous year’s purse of Rs 95 crore. The amount each team can spend will depend on the players they choose to retain and release.

In addition, there is speculation that the auction for the Women’s Premier League will take place in the first week of December. However, no final date has been confirmed yet for this tournament, which is expected to be held in the February-March timeframe.
