The women’s final of the Ice Hockey League Season 2 delivered a spectacular contest as defending champions Maryul Spamo clinched a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over Changla Lamos to retain their title. The match, held at the Nawang Dorjay Stobdan (NDS) Stadium in Leh, witnessed an electrifying atmosphere with enthusiastic spectators celebrating the sport’s growing popularity. Maryul Spamo, led by their inspirational captain Padma Chorol, overturned a 0-2 deficit with Chorol’s hat-trick proving decisive in their triumph.
The match began with both teams showcasing fierce determination on the rink. Changla Lamos dominated the first period, with their captain Tsewang Chuskit delivering a stunning wrist shot in the 4th minute to give her team an early lead. Despite Maryul Spamo’s efforts to equalize, they struggled to convert their chances. Changla Lamos extended their lead in the 11th minute when Disket C Angmo provided a brilliant assist, enabling Chuskit to score her second goal. The Lamos ended Period 1 with a 2-0 advantage, although they faced a minor setback when Sonam Angmo was penalized for foul play and benched for two minutes.
In Period 2, Maryul Spamo mounted a spirited comeback. Their captain, Padma Chorol, stepped up in the 27th minute, scoring a remarkable goal that brought her team back into contention at 2-1. The intensity on the rink surged, with both teams playing aggressively to seize control of the match. In the 35th minute, Padma struck again, netting a crucial equalizer to complete her double and level the score at 2-2 by the end of the second period.
The decisive third period saw Maryul Spamo maintaining their momentum. Padma Chorol completed her hat-trick, securing the lead and the championship for her team with a brilliant finish. Maryul Spamo proudly lifted the winner’s trophy, while Changla Lamos were commended for their valiant effort and awarded the runner-up trophy.
As the Ice Hockey League Season 2 approaches its conclusion, attention now turns to the highly anticipated men’s final. Defending champions Kang Sings will face last year’s runners-up Changthang Shans on Monday, promising another exciting showdown in a league organized in partnership with the UT Administration of Ladakh and the Ice Hockey Association of Ladakh.
