At the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Neeraj Chopra from India clinched his country’s first-ever gold medal with a remarkable performance in the men’s javelin throw event. Notably, this was Neeraj’s second medal in the World Championships, having secured a silver medal in the previous year. Prior to Neeraj’s achievements, India’s last medalist in the World Championships was Anju Bobby George, who won a bronze medal in the women’s long jump event in 2003.

In the end, Nadeem’s efforts weren’t enough to surpass Neeraj’s historical throw of 88.17 meters.
