The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) has assigned Vodafone and other two country based telecommunication channels to distribute its new football channel.
The Channel 11 is going to launch in March 2019. According to a report filed by the sports business news platform sportspromedia, The Portuguese Football Federation has signed a distribution deal with Altice Portugal, NOS and Vodafone.
The president of the Portuguese Football federation said the move is hoped to be ‘an instrument for the dissemination and promotion” of Portuguese Soccer, though the channels are not expected to go for a war competing for broadcast rights to Portuguese’s soccer’s top flight matches.
The telecommunication partner of Portugal’s national men’s and women’s soccer teams, Altice Portugal will stream the channel on its MEO platform.
“This project and the nature of the content frame Vodafone’s strategic posture of making available the best and most relevant content to its customers,” added Mário Vaz, Vodafone Portugal’s chief executive.
