The youth oriented music channel MTV from Viacom18 stable has agreed to go for a long-term partnership with Mercury Sports Entertainment, an official promoter of Brave Combat Federation in India to air Brave fight Nights in India.
Brave Combat Federation being the maiden global mixed global martial arts organisation to host events in India till the date. Founded by the Bahraini royal family member Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa in 2016, Brave is considered as one the major mixed martial arts(MMA) promotions out of the Middle East.
As reported in the english newspaper ET, The Head of youth, music & English Entertainment at Viacom 18, Ferzad Palia said,” We have signed a multi-year deal wiith Mercury Sports Entertainment for teh telecast of the upcoming and previous figts of Brave Combat Federation.
Following the deal, MTV will package and air the forthcoming fight night Brave 20. However, the fight is scheduled to go on 22nd December in Hyderabad, MTV will air it in January.
“We will air the India fight in January but future endeavour will be to go live,” Palia said. “It’s high time we get some good quality international fights on mainstream platforms. We at Viacom18 have been pushing for ultimate sports, including MMA, ESports and Poker. We will continue to pursue various sports.”
While commenting on the deal, Akbar Rasheed, the founder promoter of Mercury Sports Entertainment said, We are looking at making Brave a national Television show. We want to own the sport, create a grassroots programme and build stars. We will get a great reach via MTV, Voor and Jio TV Brave 20 as part of the Deal.”
Brave fight nights run for 6 hours costing around Rs 2.5 Crore. Rasheed said in Between TV and Digital platforms, the company eyes to reach up to 300 million veiwers.
