It is also learned that this initiative would help in the development of a mobile-based device for nutrition researchers at the district level across the country.

Health and Nutrition Adding more Dr. Hemlatha cited, “In collaboration with lead research institutes like Indian Council of Medical Sciences and Nutrition Society of India, NIN has embarked on a collection of real-time nutrition and health data of the people in the country. This will be done region-wise simultaneously across various districts in the country. Once this is established it can be used as a platform to collect the data periodically,”.

It is also learned that the innovative move of ICMR-NIN collaboration will also help in developing food bases strategies through inter-ministerial convergences to promote national programs for ensuring food and nutrition security.

The other most significant aspect of this program is that it includes data generation through crowdsourcing using NIN web-portal as a platform. It is also learned that this platform will be useful in the present scenario of the COVID-19 pandemic to determine healthcare policy decisions by the government. The real-time data is expected to be collected through well-designed pro forma in seven languages and analysis using Indian food composition data, informed the NIN director.
