Every woman bears loads of responsibilities on her shoulder. It is indeed a great task to maintain a balance between your profession and your family and every woman is a perfectionist in doing it. Everybody knows that the life of a girl does not happen to be easy and simple, as complications come to their life both physically and mentally. Besides, they have to face other issues like gender biases, social issues including family restrictions, societal barriers, gender discrimination, and many more. Physical issues include menstrual cycle, post-pregnancy problems, and others.

Amidst all these adversities, managing her health and fitness with all her responsibilities is a challenging task to do! But a woman can do anything if she wants to! Addressing the same issues, we have Srishti Jain, who openly talks about menstruation, her acting career, and more. Srishti Jain is going to be seen in a TV serial named Hamari Wali Good News on Zee TV, where she is trying to give a social message with a woman’s pregnancy myths and restrictions a society implements. In an inspiring conversation with Paayel from Sportz Business Magazine, Srishti Jain talks about how important is fitness for women.

Q: Tell us about acting career, how it all began, and what ups and down you been through?

I bagged my first show when I was around 19 years old. I have been part of the industry since the last 5 years now and when I look back, I can see that I have grown a lot and learnt a lot from this journey. It has made me a stronger person. I am very thankful and grateful that in these five years I was able to associate myself with some really good shows and showcase my talent as an actor. Before I got my first break, I spent my two auditions, along with my college lectures. I remember running back in forth between Andheri East and West by the metro to give an audition attend my classes. It’s not easy to face rejection especially when you know that you have been rejected for the face that you have or what you look like. It needs a lot of strength to pick yourself back up after the rejection and still keep going. So yes, it has definitely made me a stronger person but more than anything else, I am glad that my hard work has paid off. I didn’t give up and I am very happy for that.

Q: Being a woman, how do you take care of your physical and mental wellbeing?

Both physical and mental fitness is really important when you try to balance work and home! Women are superheroes and multitasker. We manage a lot of things at work and home, so to be mentally and physically strong is really important and we do it with a lot of grace. So, as I said earlier, I do workout and do yoga to keep fit and healthy. Apart from this, spending time with my family, sketching, and writing makes me feel good.

Q: Your usual fitness regime and what fitness means to you?

I do my yoga, and take out time to go for walks. I don’t eat anything post 7 PM and eat home-cooked food only. I meditate and I love working out. Fitness to me is being in a healthy and positive state of mind which then also reflects on ourselves physically.

Q: Every woman undergoes a menstrual cycle each month! Which people think is a stigma to talk about, what is your take over this, and how women can take care of their health during that period?

I find it hard to believe that the age we live in, talking about a natural biological process is a taboo. We’ve progressed so much and it is the high time to grow mentally too! I agree there’s a lot of stigma but I also don’t pay heed to it, I talk about it and don’t feel shy to address the fact that I am a woman and I go through periods every month. For me during my monthly cycle hot water bags and back massages are my saviours because I experience a lot of cramps and body ache. Oh, and how could I forget, chocolates!!

Q: Tell our audience, how do you take care of your glowing skin?

You are what you eat and that’s not any different for the skin. I use chemical and paraben-free products. I ensure no chemical products touch my face even when it comes to makeup, most of the brands I use and on similar lines. Also, whatever fruit I eat it goes on my face too, the kitchen has a lot of ingredients that I put on my face, the more you use natural products the better.

Q: What are your future plans? Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

I don’t like planning too much! I go with the flow! But I have a few things on my checklist for the next 5 years. The first is to buy my own house and the second is to buy a retirement house for my parents.
