Union Sports Minister Shri Kiren Rijiju launched the second edition of the “Fit India School Week” program in Fit India Mission.

The virtual event was organized to inspire kids to teach physical exercise and sports in their daily life as school is the first point where habits are developed.

Throughout the launch ceremony, Shri Rijiju talked about the importance of fitness in school life and stated, “Students are the driving force behind building India fit. I am delighted to observe that so many schools have enrolled for the initiative and the numbers are increasing daily. This supports in reaching our purpose to make every Indian fit as the energy for it is produced from these schools itself.”

The Fit India School week program was launched in November 2019 and witnessed participation from over 15,000 schools.

Keeping the om going pandemic situation in mind, the initiative was organized digitally. Schools in virtual mode would mostly conduct the proposed activities in the initiative.

The schools are asked to choose any one week in December 2020 to celebrate the initiative and organize daily activities from the list that has already been shared with them at the time of registration.
