Gautam Gambhir , the former Indian cricketer is known for his social acts. Sometime wearing ‘dupatta’ supporting trans sects of people while another time expressing own opinion on any issue on social media. Continuing his social responsibility, the 37 year old Gambhir launched FG PowerPlayer a cricket scholarship programme in collaboration with sports technology firm ‘Funngage’.
In the scholarship programmer, young male and female cricketers aged between 12 and 24 years will receive a fully paid five-year scholarship during a three week running training camp in Perth, Australia under the skillful guidance of former South Africa Test Cricketer HD Ackerman.
For the scholarship programme, trials will start from January 21 at the Videocon Cricket Ground in Kolkata.
The programme will hunt the cricketing talents and send the selected ones for training to avail best of the best training along with financial and administrative help.
Gambhir launched ‘Funnage’ in 2018 as talent hunting platform which he said will assist anybody irrespective of location to make his/her dream true.
The scholarship will feature a training of 5 years including training equipment and travel expenses. There will be also medical and physiotherapy for players.
Gautam Gambhir has announced his retirement after scoring century for his home state Delhi against Andhra in this year’s Ranji Trophy. Gambhir is known for his commendable innings in two of India’s World Cup Winning squad (world T20 in 2007 and ICC world cup 2012)
