Genesis Health Clubs , Wichita, Kansas, has acquired two One Life Fitness locations for an undisclosed sum.

One of the locations is in St. Louis’ Ballpark Village in St Louis, Missouri, the first club in the Gateway City for Genesis. The other location is an expansion of the company’s 20-club presence in the metropolitan Kansas City area, but its first in downtown Kansas City, Missouri. The downtown location is in an entertainment area known as Kansas City’s Power & Light District.

The deal also includes at least two club locations in the Kansas City suburbs of Prairie Village, Kansas, and Kansas City’s Northland that One Life had been in the process of developing.

“Genesis is synonymous with fitness in Kansas City, but we’ve had a few areas that we haven’t been able to really serve yet, but this acquisition gets us into Power and Light, the Northlands, and Prairie Village, all in one fell swoop,” Genesis Health Clubs Owner and President Rodney Steven II said in the announcement.

The move into St. Louis was long coming.

“St. Louis is a new city for our team that we’ve been looking towards as a natural place to expand for a long time,” Steven said. “We could not have found a better place to get started in St. Louis; the Ballpark Village is really special. With an open courtyard and windows that overlook the Gateway Arch and Busch Stadium where the Cardinals play, it’s about as quintessentially St. Louis as you can get.”

The company likely won’t stop with one club in St. Louis.

“All I can say is that we don’t go into new cities to just have one location,” Steven said. “The Ballpark Village will act as an anchor, and we’re already in talks for future locations.”

All former members of the One Life Fitness Clubs will be granted full access to the new Genesis Power & Light location and the Ballpark Village club in St. Louis as well as all Genesis locations. Current members of Genesis will have access to the two new locations.

With the purchase of these two clubs, Genesis Health Clubs now has 58 open locations across six states: Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma.

With this sale, OneLife Fitness no longer has clubs in the Midwest. It still has one club in Washington, DC; a club in West Virginia; seven clubs in Maryland; 12 clubs in Georgia; and 19 clubs in Virginia.
