The Uruguayan Olympic Committee (COU) undertakes its sports management course for 2019 over four days. With an objective to improve the skills of sports leaders, COU led solidarity programme is being funded by the International Olympic Committee(IOC).
COU Board members along with the staff members from COU affiliates and other representatives to take part in the initiative which was discussed at the Committee’s headquarter in Montevideo. Dante Steffano and José Veloso, both certified by the IOC, were in charge of the teaching aspects.
The National Undersecretary of Sports, Alfredo Etchandy and the general manager of the Uruguayan Football Association, Victoria Diaz, were among those to give special presentations on specific topics. As a whole 27 people took part in the course.
COU President Julio Maglione, also an IOC honorary member and President of the International Swimming Federation, brought the event to a close alongside national sports secretary Fernando Cáceres. The COU hosted an awards ceremony to recognise the country’s best sporting performances of the year.
Held at the Radisson Victoria Plaza in Montevideo, the event also celebrated the 95th anniversary of the COU.
