For 2019 season, CBS will air 40 WNBA games per season. This deal is expected to give the Women’s National Basketball Association more mainstream exposure. CBS enjoys a 50 million strong viewership in America. The detail of the deal of is not yet public, but it is speculated women’s basketball is receiving much less than NBA.

Sean McManus, the chairman of CBS Sports remarked, “This agreement provides great live content throughout the summer in prime time and on weekends, aligns two great brands in the WNBA and CBS sports. We look forward to working with the WNBA for many years to come.”

The 23rd season of the league will start off on 24th of May. 12 teams will strive for the championship. The twelve teams are Atlanta Dream, Chicago Sky, Connecticut Sun, Dallas Wings, Indiana Fever, Las Vegas, Los Angeles Sparks, Minnesota Lynx, New York liberty, Phoenix Mercury, Seattle Storm and Washington Mystics.

The NBA commissioner, Adam Silver said in his statement, “We thank CBS sports for making such as meaningful commitment to women’s basketball and for providing another platform to showcase the world-class athletes of the WNBA.”

WNBA has introduced new logo and color scheme earlier this month. The first match set to air is between Minnesota Lynx and Chicago Sky.
