Ahead of Champions League, Liverpool F.C. has opened an account on TikTok. TikTok is Chinese social network platform where users can make short-time videos.

Liverpool F.C. is the first premier league club to join the TikTok bandwagon. The account will upload behind the scenes footage and training ground videos. The effort is to boost Liverpool popularity globally.

The marketing manager and media senior vice president of the club said the EPL giant wants to target the younger demographic. His words were, “We are always looking for creative and innovative ways to strengthen our close ties and engage with our fans around the world. We are proud to launch our new official TikTok channel with whom we see a lot of potential to reach a new and younger audience with interesting, engaging video content.”

Before Liverpool, several other European clubs launched their own TikTok channels. The app remained one of the most downloaded apps in 2018. It signed global marketing campaign partnership with Bundesliga club, Borussia Dortmund in last April.

Normano Pisani commented on the partnership, “Liverpool has always incredible content to connect with fans around the world. With TokTok’s unique format, we believe fans will be enjoy this content in a fun and engaging way.”
