Kiren Rijiju, or known as the Lion of NorthEast has been appointed as the Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs.

Hailing from Arunachal Pradesh, Rijiju has been attributed as the voice of North-East. After being elected as the Member of Parliament in 2014, he managed to seize a place in Prime Minister’s first best list of 45 council of Minister’s list.

The erstwhile minister of this department, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore left a tweet saying “Thank you” after being left out of the cabinet.

Many sports personalities left congratulatory notes on Twitter after his appointment.

P.T. Usha, renowned field athlete of India commented on her account, “The Lion of North-East Mr. Kiren Rijiju is our new sports minister. We wholeheartedly welcome you in the family of Indian Sportsman.”

Kiren Rijiju exclaimed his reaction on Twitter saying, “My heartfelt gratitude Mr. Narendra Modi ji for reposing faith in me to be member of his council of minister. I sincerely thank Mr. Amit Shah ji along with karyakartas and well-wishers across India. For me leadership is not about power and privilege, it is about responsibility.”
