Fifa just signed a groundbreaking agreement with French Development Agency to advocate for women’s football and develop school football across Africa.
The deal was finalized at a significant moment when Women’s World Cup in France is approaching. The deal aims to design football as the vehicle for change, education and development. Fifa’s president, Gianni Infantino and Remy Rioux, the chief executive at AFD.
Fifa will work with AFD to implement various social project related to football that includes development of women’s football and Football for Schools program. AFD will encourage more women to take sports and they will materialize Fifa’s policy regarding women’s football.
Rioux said, “This compelling agreement is already paving the way for inventive solutions on the ground such as ‘playdagogy’ projects designed to ensure that young Africans will not only benefit from the 2030 agenda for sustainable development, but also become key advocates of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).”
The agreement was signed after French President Emmanuel Macron outlined equality between men and women as the great national objective of his five-year term.
