Rakuten, a Japanese e-commerce and Internet company has introduced an OTT service in more than 140 countries including major European countries for football.

The Rakuten Sports over-the-top service hits the market with an offer initially built around the 2019 season of Japanese soccer’s domestic top-flight J League, after securing a partnership with rights agency Lagardere Sports.

The Video-On-Demand feature of the company will offer Iniesta TV, an original content series that narrates the the journey Andre Iniesta.

Iniesta TV is available worldwide but J-league service is geared towards te soccer fans of South-East Asia including Vietnam, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos. Other than these countries, this platform will also be available U, Germany, Spain, France and Brazil.

Masaaki Kimura, senior managing director of J League said, “In addition to the international Superstars like Andres Iniesta and Fernando Torres playing in the league. We hope to have a positive synergy with Rakuten Sports and make the league become more for all sports fans around the world to enjoy.”
