DAZN, the global OTT service has bagged media rights of Copa America on Spanish service. The sport streaming platform will air 26 matches. Reportedly, 1.5 million Euros changed hands in this deal.

DAZN started their Spanish operation in last February. It took over territorial rights to the Conmebol competition in the country. Telefonica’s streaming platform, Movistar+ was airing the tournament before.

The announcement follows reports last month that both parties were in talks to broadcast rights to the Copa America. Copa America is scheduled to commence on 15th June as host Brazil take on Bolivia in Sao Paolo.

DAZN’s Italian service has also secured rights to the tournament, adding to its existing summer soccer portfolio that includes African Cup of Nations.

Domestic rights to the soccer championship have gone to Brazil’s free-to-air platform Rede Globo and Rio de Janeiro-based pay-TV network SporTV, which will broadcast all 26 matches, including the final in Rio on 7th July.
