Delhi Dynamos bolstered it defensive services today by signing defender Gaurav Bora from FC Pune City. Bora, who was instrumental in Chennai City FC’s heroic I-League triumph was on loan with the Coimbatore based club from Pune City.

The 20-year-old Assamese played 20 matches for Chennai City last season and netted in 2 goals in their final match of the season to hand the team from Tamil Nadu the title.

“I am really happy to join Delhi Dynamos FC. Thank you to the management and the coach for wanting me here.  I will try my best to be in the team first and play with the best of my abilities. Hopefully, we end the season at the top of the table, as high as possible,” said Gaurav.

The I-League 2018-19 emerging player of the year, Gaurav Bora managed to grab quite a few eyeballs last season. And him joining the Delhi Dynamos further strengthens the sides comprehensive young player’s set-up.

Highlighting the same, Director Delhi Dynamos, Rohan Sharma said, “I feel very fortunate to have signed Gaurav. In line with our club ideology we firmly believe in India’s young talent and Gaurav to me is one of the (if not the most) talented young Indian defenders we have.”

A former Delhi state team player, Bora also made his Indian team debut earlier this year when he represented India in the 2020 AFC U-23 Championship qualifiers.

“He plays with a lot of maturity and intelligence considering he’s only 20. We want to do our utmost to make sure he’s not only best centre back for the club, but a regular national team defender,” Rohan further added.

Head Coach Josep Gombau was also in all praise of Bora as he said, “I am so happy to have Gaurav in my squad. He is a very young talented Indian player and he has a lot of hunger. He had a very good last season where he won the trophy with Chennai City and I believe he can bring to us a lot.”
