World Lacrosse signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the new American-based Premier league lacrosse League. The aim of the MoU is to create opportunities for the both the parties to grow.

According to the MoU, the two entities will explore commercial, sponsorship and digital production opportunities together. They will also help each other to fulfill mutual goals. Bringing the sport to the Olympic is one of them.

The two bodies said they will also try to avoid scheduling conflicts between PLL and World Lacrosse events and are planning to co-organize foreign tours and festivals in the US.

World lacrosse is the global administrative body for the sport. Previously, they were known as Federation of International Lacrosse. At this year’s SportAccord Convention, they changed it to the present name.

In 1908’s London Olympic, Lacrosse appeared for the last time. In 2018, the International Olympic Committee granted lacrosse provisional recognition, boosting its chances of acceptance onto the program at some point.

In this year’s June, Premier League Lacrosse started their journey. They were supported by some high-profile investors like Creative Artist’s Agency, the Raine Group, Blum Capital and Alibaba Billionaire Joe Tsai. The league is directly competing with the 18-year old Major league Lacrosse for players, fans, commercial partners and media attention. It has secured many players from its rival summer league thanks to generous compensation package.

Jim Scherr, the choef executive of World Lacrosse said, “There is natural alignment in values and purpose between World lacrosse and the PLL. As our international federation continues to grow, we will seek to develop additional opporuntites and alliances that are designed to benefit this great game and the athletes who play it.”
