Disney announced during an investor’s call that Disney+ will launch November 12 with a bundle option with Hulu and ESPN for $12.99.
“The positive response to our direct-to-consumer strategy has been gratifying, and the integration of the businesses we acquired from 21st Century Fox only increases our confidence in our ability to leverage decades of iconic storytelling and the powerful creative engines across the entire company to deliver an extraordinary value proposition to consumers,” CEO Bob Iger said in a press release.
The idea of ESPN+ being bundled with the network+ was rumored and speculated on since the announcement of Disney’s new digital streaming service. It’s a good move for Disney to have a deal that will undoubtedly raise subscription numbers across each product as it appeals to the entire family.
How the bundle will be impacted by ESPN+’s regional licensing deals has yet to be confirmed by Disney. Another hurdle will be the streaming platforms Disney+ will be available on at launch, though Iger told investors the network is working to be available on a wide variety of providers and “They’re all interested in distributing the product.”
