The Caribbean Premier League has terminated participation agreement of St Lucia Stars for its upcoming edition of league. St Lucia Stars is a team owned by an Indian businessman Jay Pandya which comes under a parent company of Royal Sports Club, LLC, has lost all sorts of validity to operate Stars in the league. And subsequently, St Lucia Stars is not going to take part in the upcoming CPL 2019. The decision of discontinuing St Lucia Stars of the league was taken following an alleged dispute over outstanding payments to franchise players.

The League is scheduled to start by 4th September.

“On 7 August 2019, CPL Limited terminated the participation agreement between it and Royal Sports Club, LLC, the entity that operated the St Lucia Stars franchise. As a result of that termination, Royal Sports Club, LLC no longer has the right to operate a team to compete in the Caribbean Premier League tournament, and the St Lucia Stars will not be participating in the 2019 Caribbean Premier League, which begins on 4 September 2019,” CPL has stated in a Press release.

“CPL Limited is in the process of establishing and operating a new franchise to be based in St Lucia that will participate in the 2019 Caribbean Premier League,” the release added. “More information about that new franchise will follow in due course.”

It should be noted that, St Lucia Stars, formerly St Lucia Zouks, have never won the CPL since it started in 2013.
