The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has given its approval for Serie A teams to have a sleeve sponsor on their playing shirt.
According to The Calico e Finanza soccer finance website, all top Italian clubs have requested to the governing body for soccer in Italy, FICG in a meeting.
The move will now allow Italian clubs will be allowed to sell a space of 100 cm2 on the left sleeve of their shirt besides front and back of the shirt.
An official statement from Serie A added further details, saying: “Sponsorship advertising is allowed on the front of the shirt, on the back of the shirt (under the number) and on the left sleeve of the shirt; the total area occupied by advertising must not exceed 650 cm2.”
With the landing of the new decision, Serie A will join the trend of other clubs including Bundesliga, Ligue 1, La Liga and the Premier League in allowing its clubs to have a sleeve sponsor.
It should be noted that the top-flight of English soccer has made huge profit ahead of the 2017-18 season, with Arsenal and Chelsea believed to be making UK£10 million each year at one hand while on the other Manchester United made whooping UK£20 million annually associating with Kohler as in prime sponsor.
