An advisory committee has been formed to advice government on ‘Fit India movement. There are members of Indian Olympic Association, national sports federation (NSFs), government officials, private bodies and celebrated fitness enthusiasts in the advisory committee.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the ‘Fit India Movement’ on 29th August.

A statement from Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports said that the nation-wide launch of the movement will inculcate healthy living and physical activities/sports into daily life of citizens in order to improve their physical fitness and well-being.

Accordingly, an advisory committee is being constituted with members of government, Sports Authority of India (SAI), IOA and NSFs like Athletics Federation of India, All India Football Federation, and Cycling Federation of India and so on.

The committee will operate under the chairmanship of sports minister Kiren Rijiju.

Representatives of private bodies such as confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Reliance Foundation, JSW Paints, SE TransSadia Pvt Ltd, Tata Trusts, ASSOCHAM India, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FCCI), and actors Shilpa Shetty and Milind Soman will also be involved, the statement said.
