New Kabaddi Federation landed a deal with BookMyShow to be the official ticketing partner of Indo International Premier Kabaddi League. New agency, IANS broke this news on Wednesday.
BookMyShow’s COO, Albert Almeida remarked on the partnership, “Kabaddi in India established itself as a truly popular sports today, giving consumers a great gladiatorial experience. At BookMyShow, we have been fortunate to see how the consumers have responded to the sports and evolved over the years. Using these nuanced insights and our extensive experience in driving value for sporting properties via ticketing. The sports landscape in India is undergoing a transformation and IPKL’s entry is a welcoming edition to that.”
In the inaugural season of IPKL there will be eight franchisees. They are Banglalore Rhinos, Chennai Challengers, Diler Delhi, Telugu Bulls, Pune Pride, Haryana Heroes, Mumbai CheRaje and Pondicherry Predators. There will be a total of 44 matches. The winning team will garner a cash prize of 1.25 crore. And the runners up will receive a hefty sum of 75 lakh.
IPKL Director, Ravi Kiran said, “BookMyShow is a renowned and trusted name in entertainment landscape and we are glad to have the best on board with us. Ticketing is a prime source for the revenue and given the popularity of the sport I am sure we are going to see the packed stadium for each of the three legs of IPKL in its inaugural season.”
