A sport programming division of Fox Broadcasting Company, Fox Sports has renewed a rights deal in Australia for the 2019 season of the Indian Premier League Twenty20 cricket tournament.
IPL, being the world’s largest T20 Cricket League, get its live coverage on the Fox Sports and Fox Cricket Channels which are available on the Foxtel Pay-television operator in Australia. Besides, other streaming service providers like Foxtel Go and Foxtel Now will also show matches.
IPL having most of the top Australian cricket players including former test captain and vice-captain David Warner, is one of the most favored and watched cricket tournament.
Last year it was revealed Facebook had launched a bid for the global broadcast rights for the league, worth close to US $610 million over five years, however was beaten by Indian TV network Star, who paid a massive US $2.55 billion.
The Six-Week tournament will start on March 23 however, the full schedule of the league is yet to come. At present Star India holds the worldwide distribution rights of IPL till 2022.
