India’s leading elite 20 air rifle Shooters will be performing at the Premier Invitational Shooting Competition tagged ‘Lakshya Cup” scheduled today at Karnala Sports Academy in Panvel.
Arjuna Awardee Suma Shirur, a resident of Panvel has founded the event a decade before.
It was Shirur who has opined an idea of delivering equal opportunity to both men and women while shooting in a match. “Since the first Lakshya Cup in 2008, we have been following this principle. The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) adopted the equal shot rule only in December 2017, which in way, indicated what we had been promoting for the last 10 years,” said Shirur.
The winner of the Last year’s Senior Lakshya Cup holder Deepak Kumar won silver at the Asian Games this year. This year at the event, the winner under the senior category will take home a sum of One lakh while the winner in the Junior category will get rupees 50,000
