Life Time is going head to head with luxury brand East Bank Club, opening Life Time River North at One Chicago as its Chicago flagship location in downtown Chicago, one mile from East Bank Club, a 350,000-square-foot luxury health club that covers two blocks.

Life Time entered the Chicago market in 2000, and with this location has 12 facilities in the area. It will open another location in the Chicago suburb of Lake Zurich later this year, according to the company.

As part of its plan to expand in urban markets, Life Time shared that it will open new locations in New York City, Brooklyn and Atlanta later this year.

The 126,000-square-foot, two-story Life Time River North opened Feb. 1 at 15 West Chicago Avenue within the new One Chicago development, which is the city’s tallest residential building. It is open 24 hours per day, seven days per week. East Bank Club is open 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends.

This spring, Life Time will open its co-working experience, Life Time Work, in the building. It will be the first Life Time Work in Chicago but the ninth nationwide. East Bank Club also offers a co-working experience.

Life Time River North includes LifeSpa, a full-service salon and spa; LifeCafe, a café with indoor and outdoor dining; and LT Recovery, offering compression, massage and chiropractic services.

The athletic resort has an outdoor beach club with an elevated aqua lounge with whirlpools, cabana and lounge seating, as well as an indoor sky-lit lap pool for lessons, open swim and leisure.

It also features dedicated studios for more than 100 weekly large group classes that include barre, cardio and strength, indoor cycling, Pilates and yoga. It also offers designated spaces for personal and signature group training programs GTX, Alpha and Ultra Fit. A regulation-size basketball court allows for Ultimate Hoops leagues and skills training. The Kids Academy features kids programming with studio classes, art, music, Spanish immersion, homework help and more.

Life Time has launched a new, one-day membership for all destinations with pricing varying from $30 to $60, depending on location. Life Time memberships start at $249 per month for adults with the ability to add additional members and kids memberships. Life Time Work memberships start at $579, which includes access to all Life Time destinations.
