Madhya Pradesh government will reward handsomely to athletes who win gold in international tournaments. The announcement on Sunday was made by Higher Education and Sports Minister Jitu Patawari in Assembly. The Madhya Pradesh government will give 2 crores to gold-winning athletes.

Minister Patawari said, “We have decided to reward players on winning gold medal in international competitions, like Olympics, World Cup of Asian Games.”

He said there was a provision to allocate Rs Five lakh to each legislators for developing sports infrastructure in their constituencies. He was participating in the discussion on demands for grants.

It has been decided in the meeting experts on physical well being and trainers will be appointed. Dietician, psychologists, physiologists and physiotherapists will be consulted to improve player’s health.

A football academy would be set up in Chhindwara as well as swimming and wrestling academics in the state, he said.

The sports minister unveiled the plan of building a sports stadium in Rewa which will cost 10 crore. He also said that the Rowing complex in Jabalpur would be upgraded.

He commented, “A big stadium will be built in Barkheda Nathu in Madhya Pardesh, Bhopal at the cost of Rs.10 crore.”
