For the upcoming National Games 2022, Union Minister of Sports and Youth affairs, Kiren Rijiju has assured to extend every possible help to Meghalaya.

Meghalaya will host the National games. In a meeting with the chief minister of the state, Conrad K Sangma and health minister A.L Hek, Minister Rijiju expressed his commitment to help Meghalaya to conduct the tournament. In an hour-long meeting, both the parties discuss about the ongoing preparation for National Games 2022.

Sangma informed that all plans have been chalked out for hosting the games in Meghalaya with regards to building of infrastructure, logistics and conduct of events.

The chief minister while seeking special financial assistance for conducting the games gave a detailed presentation on the infrastructure requirement.

Health minister A.L Hek also submitted a memorandum to Rijiju with a request to provide special consideration to develop the famed Shillong Golf course that would turn hundred years in 2024.

Rijiju assured all possible support to Meghalaya after listening to the chief minister and Health Minister.

After the meeting with Rijiju, chief minister had a detailed discussion with the secretary, ministry of sports and director general for the Sports Authority of India.

The chief minister commented, “The Ministry of sports has also assured all support to ensure successful conduct of the games in Meghalaya. He called meeting as ‘fruitful’.

He added more, “We are very positive that all necessary logistics and requirements for the games would be completed within stipulated timeline.”

The chief minister also stated that continuous engagement with the Ministry of Sports has yielded results. Now, the Central government has recognized the importance of building necessary sports infrastructure that would facilitate promotion of sports in Meghalaya, apart from hosting the National Games, said the CM.
