New York Pilates, NYC’s leading fitness destination, has officially opened a new studio in the Flatiron neighborhood of NYC. This marks the brand’s 7th location overall and 4th in the city, further establishing the brand as a force in the boutique fitness space. Located at 17 W 17th St, the Flatiron studio, deemed the brand’s uptown flagship, is the largest pilates studio in NYC, and one of the largest in the country. The space measures at 6,000 sq/ft and houses over 60 pilates reformers, multiple rooms for classes and a contemporary aesthetic that can only be found at New York Pilates.
With studios within the city currently located in West Village, SoHo and Bowery, the Flatiron location is New York Pilates’ first step uptown. “Flatiron is such a historic NYC neighborhood and as a local NYC brand, we believe that it is essential to offer a consistent and dependable reformer pilates class, since there’s nowhere else that is offering the kind of classes that we offer in the neighborhood,” Brion Isaacs, Co-founder and Creative Director of New York Pilates, said. Located only a few blocks from Union Square and in walking distance to areas like Chelsea, Gramercy and NoMad, the 17W17 spot is the perfect location for the brand’s expansion.
Isaacs designed the studio himself using the original elements of the building and incorporating the exposed brick and wood floors into the design. Highlighting the high ceilings and exposed beams, the studio pays homage to the Flatiron neighborhood. “The history of New York is everywhere and often it’s buried or hidden behind drywall, so remove all to show the natural beauty that was underneath all the facades, and incorporate that beautiful brick and old wood floors into the space,” Isaacs said.
It was the New York Pilates community that led the brand’s expansion as they had heavily requested a studio presence in the Flatiron neighborhood. Starting the project to introduce the signature experience of New York Pilates to Flatiron pre-pandemic, the brand was forced to pivot due to COVID, launching the NYPWORLD digital platform instead. Once fitness studios reopened earlier this year, the project was resumed and the Flatiron location soft opened in October and made its grand opening on November 22.
New York Pilates has always been an elite fitness studio with an influential, dedicated cult following. With locations in the best neighborhoods and world-class instructors that have undergone 400-600 hours of training, New York Pilates is consistently on the cusp of what’s next, and the Flatiron studio is a perfect example of this.

The New York Pilates Flatiron location is currently accepting registrations for the brand’s signature Abs, Arms, Ass reformer class in both of the studio spaces, each of which houses 21 pilates reformers. An additional hidden space is projected to open in spring of 2023 further elevating the experience to be found at New York Pilates’ newest location.
