Now NFL fans can buy merchandise on Instagram according to a recent agreement. All the sports gear worn by top collegiate picks will be made available ahead of 2019 draft.

NFL is trying to create a first on-of-its kind digital shopping experience for its fan base. The draftees will be photographed wearing New Era Draft day hats, which will be then shared on the official NFL account with shopping tags, which user will be able to follow to the NFL shop to purchase.

The senior vice president of social and influence marketing at NFL, Ian Trombetta said, “We’re able to merge commerce with our social media platforms in an organic way. The idea is to drive engagement and  excitement about the players. We want to be at the front of the line when it comes to initiatives like this.” It is worth noting that both the parties wouldn’t see any financial gain out of this deal.

The agreement was made when execs from both sides met at Super Bowl in Atlanta to discuss the possibility of NFL and Instagram coming together.

NFL 2019 draft will run from 25th April to 27th April. ABC network is in charge of the broadcasting simultaneously with NFL Network and ESPN.

In the recent years, Instagram saw a surge of businesses choosing the platform for revenue. Instagram has extended their e-commerce features and last month rolled out checkout, which lets merchants sell products directly through instagram. Instagram usually charge a fee for that service.
