The Odisha Government which has always been generous and supportive for Hockey has this time came on board to promote The Indian Arrows, in a multi-pronged sponsorship deal worth around rupees 5 crore. The Indian Arrows is the football team which has played under-17 world cup last year. The deal will also cover up India’s under-15 football team.
According to the league, the Odisha government will host the Arrows and Under-15 national team at the Bhubaneswar based Kalinga Stadium. The government of Odisha will also accommodate two years of full boarding/lodging during the I-League and off-season at Bhubaneswar.
To facilitate the Under-15 team’s training, the All India Football Federation has shifted its regional academy from in Goa to Bhubaneswar. “It’s heartening to have the State Government on board as a sponsor. The support will definitely help the two teams. We have also come to know that the Goa government is helping the Churchill Brothers club with a ₹3 crore financial grant,” AIFF senior vice-president Subrata Dutta had told Times of India.
He later also informed that in order to maintain that the Under-15 team gets consistent training, they have been shifted to Bhubaneswar from AIFF’s regional academy in Goa.
In addition to this, now Arrow have already shifted from Jawaharlal Nehru’s(JLN) stadium to Bhubaneswar’s Kalinga ground which subsequently affected that the national capital won’t be hosting I-League matches this season.
Arrow will play all of their matches in Kalinga stadium of Bhubaneswar, except three games clashing with the Hockey Men’s World Cup in Bhubaneswar(Nov 28 to Dec 16), when Arrow have to shift to Barabati stadium based in Cuttack.
It should be noted, that earlier this year Odisha Government has become the official sponsor of the Indian Men’s and Women’s hockey team for the next five years.
