In an exclusive interview Prashant Sawant, Celebrity Trainer, and the Owner of Body Sculptor Gym shares his thoughts over the contemporary gym business. During an interaction with Abhinav from Sportz Business, Prashant also talks about the preventive measures for re-opening the gym.

1. Impact of ongoing lockdown on Indian Gym Businesses?

The Impact of ongoing Lockdown on Indian gym Business is going to be drastic. As the Gyms will be the last ones to open at this time of ongoing lockdown, the Indian Gyms are going to suffer a lot. I think everyone needs to be careful once the gyms are open at the same time

Exercise pose as the medicine to a number of ailments, people will have to come to gyms and workout maintaining norms for social distancing.   Having said that, I think everyone needs to be careful once the gyms open.

In contrast to ever-rising fear of infection,  concerned people will be a bit reluctant to return to the gym in that case we as the gym owners will have to reconnect with the people and spread awareness about health and wellness.Prashant Sawant, Celebrity Trainer

  1. What kind of provisions you are going to follow as the gym reopens to safeguard your clients and trainers on the floor, from COVID-19 after-effect?

We are going to follow a lot of steps ensuring to keep our clients and crew safe from the ongoing viral infection. As a matter of fact, I am into personal Training Studio space that usually remains empty, and as we cater one client at a time so we got hardly 4-5 members working on the floor of 4000 square feet gym set up.

Notably, we have started sanitizing our studio in February, way before the government directed gyms to close down. Now, when gyms are again going to resume its working, we have planned to follow some guidelines including sanitizing equipment, checking everyone’s temperature, monitoring oxygen levels, and will make gloves and masks as the mandatory things to have before entering the studio.

  1. Under Fit-India initiatives, Govt. of India has taken major steps for the revival of the industry. What will be your recommendations to the government?

I think that the good thing the government is doing by promoting fit India movement ahead. And I think that there should be more awareness that the government should bring into practice. As today if you are doing a workout, it increases your immunity and makes you tough and strong to fight any viral infection.  Hence, the government should promote more health and fitness industries by spreading awareness amongst the mass.

  1. Strategies and future plans of individual Gyms and Gym Chains post COVID-19?

Strategies for the post-COVID-19 situation, Well initially,  we were considering opening new gyms and personal training studios in different states and cities but seeing the current situation we are not going to do so and we will wait till 2021 and it is the best thing to do. We will wait for the market to settle down, and let the people be more stable.

After all, this Economy is going to run on a different turf altogether, so keeping all these things in our mind, we need to work accordingly, and how we are going bring some changes to our lifestyle. We need to work accordingly, and how we are going to bring some changes to pour lifestyle. We will be working on a digital platform so we are going to work harder.
