Romelu Lukaku has successfully moved to Internazionale after pursuing an exit from Manchester United.
The Series A Club had a 60 million Euros offer rejected last month and redoubled their efforts after Paulo Dybala’s prohibitive demands thwarted a potential swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku between United and Juventus. It is understood Inter will pay up to 80 million euros for the striker and sell-on clause has been inserted in the deal.
Romelu Lakaku has outstanding record in United. The Belgian scored a whopping 42 goals in 96 appearances and has signed a contract until 2024 at San Siro. He said while signing, “Inter was the only club I wanted, because Inter is not for everyone.”
Lakaku has already arrived in Milan to wrap up paperwork and medical procedure. Meanwhile, his departure caused discontent at United. His agent Federico Postorello, had flown into London on Wednesday to quicken his exit and end a difficult and at times fractious process.
Inter had previously offered 64.7 million including add-ons paid over two years and were initially hoping that the Belgian would join on loan for the first year. However, United’s resistance led to inter, under pressure from their new manager, Antonio Conte, to raise their bid on Wednesday.
This transfer summer has been mixed for United. The concluded at sixth position in Premier league last season, behind an embarrassing 32 points from the champion Manchester City. However, they were managed to rope in Harry Maguire for 80 million euro from Leicester.
