The Fit Guide (“TFG”), an international rating system celebrating the world’s leading fitness clubs, gyms and studios, has launched in its first city, New York.

While restaurants and hotels have long-established and respected rating systems recognising excellence, there has been no such global authority for the fitness industry – until now.

TFG’s comprehensive and independent evaluations cover over 250 objective standards created in collaboration with leading hospitality and fitness industry experts. The process covers all aspects of a truly premium fitness experience, including reception service, the group class experience, facilities, technology and online presence.

Out of the fifty clubs that TFG has evaluated in New York, only five achieved the highest accolade, The Fit Guide 5-Star Award, which highlights an exceptional overall experience. These industry-leading clubs were Orangetheory Manhattan-Plaza District, Physique 57 Soho, F45 Lower East Side, MADabolic Brooklyn and Fhitting Room Flatiron. A further 23 clubs have been recognized for their excellence, achieving The Fit Guide 4-Star Award.

The Fit Guide also offers special mentions to leading clubs that have been ‘Recommended’ and ‘Rated’.

TFG was founded by Jack Thomas and Matt Lavender, two established names in fitness and hospitality respectively, after they recognized that there was no industry standard, rating system or reliable, trusted guide for fitness clubs and studios.

“I love how the fitness industry has developed over the last 10 years, with a focus now on creating amazing experiences and communities, rather than just workout programs.” said Jack Thomas, co-founder of TFG and host of the Fitness Business Asia podcast.

“One of the most exciting things about The Fit Guide is we’ll now have industry metrics and benchmarks to help people find the top clubs and studios wherever they go, and allow fitness business owners and operators to refine and improve the service they offer.”

Matt Lavender, co-founder of TFG and CEO of the hospitality consultancy, Enlites said, “I’m excited to bring quality assurance concepts that have proven so successful in the world of hospitality to the premium fitness industry. One of our primary goals was to create a professional, thorough and objective evaluation process, and we’re proud to say that we have achieved just that.”

After New York, TFG will launch in London and Singapore, with plans to expand to other leading fitness cities, both in the US and internationally, by the end of 2023.

For fitness enthusiasts and travelers who want to discover the best that the industry has to offer, TFG will be an invaluable resource. For fitness business owners and managers the guide will provide insight and resources designed to help them create incredible, five-star experiences./
