USA Basketball is engaging in a multiyear partnership with Red Bull America. NBA published this news on 2nd may in their official website. According to the source, the aim is to build a pathway for aspiring men and women basketball players who want to compete at the highest levels of 3X3 basketball.

Under the agreement, Red Bull will be hosting 23 qualifying tournaments across the country. At the end, eight potential players will be selected who will be representing USA Basketball at the 2020 Olympics.

The CEO of USA Basketball, Jim Tooley remarked about the deal saying, “I think there’s a lot of excitement because it creates opportunity for an athletes that may have not been thinking that this is a pathway for them. It opens a door to a whole new generation of players that have an opportunity to wear USA across their chest and be a part of the Olympic Games.”

The decorum for 3×3 basketballs is different than the rules 5×5 basketball players follow. The red bull 3X qualifiers, Red Bull USA Basketball 3X nationals and 2020 Summer Olympics 3×3 will be played on a half-court with a 10-minute game clock and 12-second shot clock. The team which will score 21 points firstly will be considered winner or the team which will lead till the end of ten minutes regulation.

Chris Mullin has been chosen as the brand ambassador of this tournament. He is the member of USA Basketball dream team and 5-time NBA all-star. He has intrigued by the format and laws of the said tournament.
