Union minister Kiren Rijiju assured India will deliver a spectacular performance at the Tokyo Olympics. The minister hinted at sending a good contingent to internationally prestigious sports events.

During the question hour in Lok Sabha, he also said Indian Athletes have been performing competitively at the international level in many disciplines. While answering question concerning areas of sports Mr Rijiju laid the games plan for India’s success at the upcoming Olympics.

He remarked a good number of contingent would be sent for the Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, in 2020, the Minister of state for Youth Affairs and Sports said.

About the preparation for Olympics he said, “We will perform better at Olympics.” He also added that a task force set up after the previous Olympics has come out with every effective suggestion.

India earned only two medals at the Rio De Janerio Olympics. Noting the promotion of sports is the primary responsibility of state government, Rijiju said the center supplements efforts of the state governments concerned for bridging gaps in sports infrastructure.
